Big things come with smaller wineries and Lynx Wine Estate is living proof. A unique tasting experience awaits when visiting this hidden gem along the Franschhoek Wine Route, where we combine award winning wines like our famous Lynx Blanc de Noir, Cabernet Franc, or Viognier with our mouth-watering levantine cuisine inspired restaurant.
Nestled amidst vineyards in the scenic Franschhoek valley on Lynx Wine Estate, Lynx Guest House boasts with 17 suites & deluxe double rooms. All rooms are lovingly designed and accessible at ground level with their own private terrace from which guests can relax and enjoy the stars in the evening and breathtaking views of the mountains, vines and blooming gardens during the day. The rooms are all fitted with air conditioning, flat-screen TV’s, showers, hairdryers, electronic safes, desks and refrigerators for convenience. Each room also has a wardrobe & private bathroom. A swimming pool is available exclusively to guests of Lynx Guest House who enjoy a full continental breakfast on each morning of their stay with the restaurant and tasting room on site for their enjoyment.
Our winemaker Pierre and his team are one of the last still using traditional methods during our winemaking process. These elements make our wine tasting and cellar tour a one-of-a-kind experience. The first grapes on the farm were picked in 2003 and in 2018 the German couple, Manuel & Brigitte, together with one of their daughters, Annabel, took over this wine farm with its exceptional views. Having a hotel background and a passion for wine, they put all their heart and soul into the farm and are actively working to add to – & improve the farm’s offerings.
Our Lynx Range wines are available in tastings, however, in our Reserve Range, the wines are aged in oak barrels for at least 12 months and are then aged for at least another 6 months in bottle. Once the wines have reached drinking maturity, it’s put on sale. What makes our Reserve Range wines special & exclusive, is that we produce only a few hundred bottles of each wine. These wines are thus not available in tastings; however, we are happy to confirm that our Reserve Range wines are now available in tastings based on a minimum of 10 people per booking. The tasting includes 4 wines from our Reserve Range (based on availability at the time of booking) which consists of The Chardonnay, The Viognier, The Cabernet Sauvignon, The Cabernet Franc, The Pinot Noir & The Shiraz.
Together with Chef Emile and his team, our Levante Restaurant offers a tantalizing journey through the east of the Mediterranean (Turkey, Israel, Palestine to name a few), where traditional recipes meet modern innovation. Savor the rich aromas of Levantine cuisine characterized by light, cosmopolitan, oriental flavours and shared experiences. With a focus upon tasty vegetables, pulses and oriental spices such as Ras el hanout, cumin and cardamom, Levantine cuisine is a perfect fit for our times. The exquisite blend of spices go well with Lynx Wines such as Rosé, Shiraz, Viognier & Blanc de Noir. Our winemaker, Pierre, added his suggested pairings below each dish in the menu. Our Levantine dishes & Lynx wines will transport your senses to a world of culinary bliss!
